We were asked this question by members of our Parish Life and Stewardship committee and they felt we needed to make sure and share the answer.
The Catholic Globe is the Diocesan newspaper that is published every other week. All registered parishioners receive one. In July the Diocese sent out the billing for the newspaper. Parishoiners are asked to pay for their own subscription and if possible for someone who can not afford it. If parish households choose not to pay, or can not afford to, the parish is then billed.
In the 2016-17 subscription campaign about 500 out of 2,500 (on average) parish households paid their subscription. Subsequently the parish was billed $19,237.00, which we pay on a monthly payment to the Diocese for.
If you're able to pay, and able to pay for someone else, that would be greatly appreciated. The parish council, committees and staff would love to utilize the monies towards evangelization rather than towards paying for unpaid Catholic Globe subscriptions.
