Welcome Joan Shannon, Faith Formation Coordinator
Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Joan Shannon and I am
Holy Trinity’s new Faith Formation Coordinator and secondary Religion
Instructor at St. Edmond’s. Born in Colorado, I spent most of my youth
in Decorah, Dubuque and for the past 30 years in Guttenberg. I graduated
from Wahlert Catholic High School, UNI with a degree in English
and Secondary Education and am a 1997 graduate of the Lay Ministry
Formation three-year-program through the Archdiocese of Dubuque.
For 28 years, while in Guttenberg, I was self-employed as a pharmacy
owner. My husband, Dan, is currently a pharmacist at Daniel Pharmacy.
I am a mother of seven children, one deceased. In addition, I have
taught faith formation since 1983 for grades 2nd through 12th, developed
faith formation curriculums for preschoolers through 12th grade, led retreats
and fundraisers, and ministered to many. During the last two years, I was hired as a fulltime Religious Ed Instructor at St. Mary’s School in Guttenberg for grades 2nd through seventh.
As a servant leader, my motto is, “I have always received more from my ‘yes’s,’than my ‘no’s!’ “ I am honored and hopeful as I begin my newest mission of service at Holy Trinity as well as teaching students at St. Edmond’s
